Charging the Battery
WARNING
Charging the battery produces gasses that
can explode.
Do not smoke near the battery and keep
sparks and flames away from battery.
Important:
Keep the battery fully charged. This
is especially important to prevent battery damage
when the temperature is below 32° F (0° C).
1.
Move the machine to a level surface, shut off
the engine, and remove the key.
2.
Open the front hood.
3.
Clean the exterior of the battery case and the
battery posts.
Note:
Connect the leads of the battery charger
to battery posts before connecting the charger
to the electrical source.
4.
Look at the battery and identify the positive and
negative battery posts.
5.
Connect the positive lead of the battery charger
to the positive battery post (

7.
Connect the battery charger to the electrical

Do not overcharge the battery.

When the battery is fully charged, unplug
the charger from the electrical source, then
disconnect the charger leads from the battery
posts (
Jump-Starting the Machine
WARNING
Jump-starting the battery can produce gasses
that can explode.
Do not smoke near the battery and keep
sparks and flames away from battery.
Note:
This procedure requires 2 people to perform.
Ensure that the person making the connections wears
the proper face protection, protective gloves, and
clothing.
1.
Move the machine to a level surface, shut off
the engine, and remove the key.
2.
Open the front hood.
3.
Ensure that all controls are in the N
EUTRAL
position.
4.
Sit in the operator seat and have the other
person make the connections.
Note:
Ensure that the jumper battery is a 12-V
battery.
Important:
If you are using another machine
for power, ensure that the 2 machines are
not touching each other.
5.
Prepare to start the engine; refer to
Shutting Off the Engine (page 47)
