4. Siting
• The TRT044 is designed to be surface mounted onto the domestic
hot water cylinder.
• For cylinders with an insulating foam covering, a section of foam
must be removed so the back of the thermostat is in direct contact
with the metal body of the tank.
• The TRT044 should be mounted between a quarter and third of the
way up from the base of the tank in a position that gives good access
to the temperature adjustment knob.
5. Installation
4.1 Ensure the mains supply is switched off and the circuit supply fuses
are removed or the circuit breaker turned off.
4.2 Unscrew and remove the cover retaining screw, and carefully
ease off the temperature adjustment knob.
4.3 Remove the front cover.
4.4 Loosen the cable gland and thread the incoming 230V 50Hz
mains supply cable into the unit.
Note: Allow sufficient excess cable to wire up the unit, but not too
much to make it difficult to close the cover on the unit.
4.5 Prepare the cable for termination.
4.6 Connect the cable to the relevant terminals ensuring that the brass
washers grip the wires firmly (see section 6. Connection Diagram).
4.7 Pull some of the excess cable back through the cable gland
and tighten to the trap the cable and give good strain relief.
4.8 Re-position the cover over the unit, along with the cover retaining
screw and temperature adjustment knob.
4.9 Adjust the length of the spring wire, and use it to strap the TRT044
to the hot water cylinder.
4.10 Restore mains to the unit after checking all system wiring is complete.
