2. PRODUCT
DESCRIPTION
The anti-decubitus bubble mattress
with pump is a set which includes an
alternating pressure mattress and a
compressor (air pump). The mattress
is made of durable PVC with a bubble
structure; the bubbles are inflated with
air in alternate cycles by the compres-
sor (air pump). By cyclically changing
the support points of the person lying
on the bed, this set minimizes pres-
sure on the parts of the body which are
most at risk from bedsores and makes
it possible to avoid or reduce skin dam-
age. The PVC used in the mattress is
made of a non-toxic and hypoallergenic
material.
The set includes:
•
Soft Wind III alternating pres-
sure pump
•
Air cell mattress
•
Repair kit (patch + glue)
• Spare
fuse
• Air
hoses
3. INDICATIONS
Anti-decubitus bubble mattress with
pump are aids for people at risk of bed-
sores. They are used for people who
are bedridden for an extended period
of time, in whom peripheral circulatory
system disorders occur, and also for in-
dividuals with signs of subcutaneous or
open skin damage caused by long-term
pressure. These mattresses are used to
prevent bedsores and treat stage I (ac-
cording to NPUAP / EPUAP) bedsores.
The mattress works by cyclically chang-
ing support points of the person lying
on the bed, minimizing pressure on
the parts of the body which have the
greatest risk of bedsores. This improves
circulation in the tissues of those body
parts which remain in contact with the
bed for the longest period. It should
be noted that the operating principle
of the mattress described above can-
not eliminate all causes of skin lesions;
however, it can significantly limit their
development.
Contraindications for the use of alter-
nating pressure mattresses are de-
termined by a physician based on a
physical examination and medical his-
tory. As a general guideline, the mat-
tress should not be used if alternating
changes of support points cause pain
and an exacerbation of the patient’s
condition.
