WASHING
Th
e paint on your Ti
ffi
n motorhome
has a polyurethane base called Diamont.
While multiple layers of clear coat seal-
ants protect the paint against oxidation,
the sealant must be protected from dete-
rioration.
Paint manufacturers advise against us-
ing harsh cleaners such as Simple Green,
Mr. Clean, or liquid dish washing soaps.
Th
e degreasing agents in these cleaners
leave a residue on the sealant, which
so
ft
en and damage the clear coat in time.
Baby shampoo provides an e
ff
ective yet
gentle cleaner. Without the typical heavy
degreasers of most detergents, baby
shampoo cleans without leaving a residue to gum up the clear coat
fi
nish. Generally one ounce (1 oz.)
is all you need per
fi
ve gallon bucket of water. Add one cup of food grade distilled white vinegar to
your wash bucket.
Ti
ffi
n Motorhomes recommends the lambswool pad sold by Mary Moppins.
Th
is allows you to safely
wash your coach from the ground by placing the pad on an extension.
Do not mistake lambswool with imitations. Imitation pads are made from 100% polyester, which is
plastic. Plastic imitations will scratch the
fi
nish of the motorhome. For this same reason avoid micro-
fi
ber products to wash or dry your motorhome, car, boat, airplane, motorcycle, vehicle, furniture, or
cabinets. Micro
fi
ber is made from 80% polyester.
Avoid washing with brushes. Even though you may not see brush marks now, the damage will happen
as the bristles wear down.
