Figure 3–1
Typical wavelength deviation from a linear relation between input
voltage and output wavelength. [Input voltage (horizontal axis in
unit V) and optical output wavelength (vertical axis in unit nm)].
The three curves are measured at different optical powers.
3.3.1 Calibration
methods
There are several methods that can be used for calibrating the PICO. Some guide-
lines are;
PICO should be calibrated in the same way that it will be used.
Never use the digital control signal _POWER_ENABLE to turn on the optical
power.
Radians recommend the general purpose start-up and calibration procedure
3.3.1.1 Start-up
The purpose of the start-up procedure is to find a stable mode to ensure that the
calibration procedure will be successful.
Set WAVELENGTH _TUNING to 0 V
Set Wavelength _TUNING_ENABLE to TRUE
Set OPTICAL_POWER to 0 V
Set Optical _POWER_ENABLE to true
Set OPTICAL_POWER to 1 V
Wait 2 s
Set OPTICAL_POWER to –1 V
Wait approx. 100 ms
