If a liner breaks inside the injector
When replacing or removing a glass liner, it might break inside the injector. In this
case the broken parts of the liner must be removed from the injector, including the
glass splinters that might fall into the lower part of the vaporization chamber.
The suggested operating sequence is reported on page 157.
Adjusting the quartz wool packing
PTV injector arranged for Large Volume injections can be fitted with a liner (see
Available liners for PTV injector
, page 145, #6) packed with quartz wool. A
casual increase of pressure inside the liner or removing the column without
closing the carrier gas pressure could cause the packing glide towards the bottom
of the liner, altering the conditions of sample reconcentration and transfer. In such
a case, the user should replace the liner with a new one or, alternatively, adjust the
quartz wool packing inside the liner in use. The suggested operating sequence for
adjusting the packing is reported on page 165.
