temperature is critical for the application. The RMS heater is not
designed to maintain temperature (at the maximum setting) in
ambient temperatures below 12°C, strong wind or with water (rain)
flowing over the RMS body.
In cases where the main instrument enclosure is in a safe area but the
RMS enclosure is in a hazardous area, a purge controller will be
mounted on the RMS box. This must be protected from water ingress
on to the purge vent spark arrestor assembly.
As an absolute minimum, a sloping cover extending from the wall on
which the enclosure is mounted and sufficiently large to carry
rainwater clear of the enclosure is required. Depending on location
and anticipated weather conditions the shelter may require sides to
provide protection from blown rain or cold. Service access to the
valve and enclosure must be accounted for.
For systems with the remote RMS located in a hazardous area, refer
to
Appendix A: Hazardous Area Operation
requirements.
In some applications there are insufficient ports on a 64-way RMS
and a second unit is connected to increase the number of ports
available. The selected gas stream from the second RMS connects to
a port on the first RMS so that two 64-way units will provide a total
of 127 ports.
The second RMS uses the same enclosure as the remote option
above. In this case, the enclosure is wall mounted adjacent to the
main enclosure. Calibration panel assemblies are fitted to the second
RMS enclosure, rather than to the main instrument enclosure.
For hazardous areas, dual RMS configurations are available for
Sentinel PRO Ex systems only. A dual conduit arrangement is used
(as per the remote RMS hazardous area system, see above). Refer to
the
Appendix A: Hazardous Area Operation
for details of the purging
requirements.
