Removing the Heat Shield
Sharp Components
– Gloves Recommended
■ Sheet metal components such as the heat shield have sharp
edges. Avoid injury by handling with care.
■ It is recommended to use gloves when removing or installing the
heat shield.
1. Carefully lift and remove the heat shield (see Figure 28).

6.2.4 Griddle Removal and Replacement
The next step in accessing components under the maintop is to
remove the griddle, if needed.

2. Remove and retain the two T-20 screws from each of the two
element support brackets (see Figure 29).

3. Remove and retain the two T-20 screws fastened to each (right
and left side) support bracket (see Figure 30):
■ The screw securing the element flange onto the front of
support bracket (see Figure 31)
■ The screw holding the support bracket onto the back frame
(see Figure 31)
