Hardware Installation
2.1 Hardware Installation
The GbE XMC Ethernet Card can be installed within any product that supports
XMC module-card protocol, such as Themis XV2 single-board VME-based com-
puter system.
To install the GbE XMC Ethernet Card, follow these steps:
1. Remove the blank PMC/XMC faceplate or existing card from the XMC mod-
ule slot on the host system board (see
Figure 2-1 on page 2-2).
2. Insert the GbE into the XMC-card opening with the proper orientation and
align the XMC connector with the mating connector on the host board.
3. Press the XMC connector into the mating host-PCB connector until the GbE
is firmly seated.
4. To secure the GbE to the host PCB, use two threaded standoffs on the GbE
(see
Figure 2-2 , page 2-2) and attach to the two mounting holes (see Figure
2-1 on page 2-2) on the host PCB with two M2.5x5mm panhead screws.
Attach the two threaded standoffs to the host PCB with the two screws.
Important: If your GbE card is being installed into a system that has stand-
offs already attached to the host PCB, the GbE standoffs should be removed.
All necessary hardware will be provided with the order.
