EXPERIMENT 2
6
The first specimen:
“natural fibers”
YOU WILL NEED
› Microscope
› Natural fiber prepared slide
HERE’S HOW
1. Remove the transparent protective cover
from the lighting unit. The battery is already
installed in the unit. To replace the battery,
see the instructions on the inside back cover.
2. Turn the microscope’s illumination unit so
that the mirror is pointing downward. The
light will switch on automatically. The bulb’s
light will shine through an opening in the
stage, with the diaphragm letting more or
less light through depending on its size.
Always start by selecting the largest
diaphragm setting.
3. Take the prepared slide and clamp it under
the clips on the stage. The specimen should be
positioned as precisely as possible over the
center of the stage opening so it is well
illuminated by the bulb.
