Release the measuring button. HOLD appears on the display. The last
measured temperature and the highest or lowest value of the last measuring
procedure will remain visible on the display for a few seconds.
•
The device will automatically switch off it is not used after a few seconds.
6. Indication of the measurement results
Negative measuring results are signed with a „-“.
Positive measuring results have no sign.
7. Distance, Spot Size, and Field of View
As the distance (D) from the object increases, the spot size (S) of the area measured
by the device becomes larger a ratio D:S = 30:1 (e.g. 300 cm distance = 10 cm spot
size). To get the most accurate temperature reading, aim at the target as near as
possible.
If the distance is too long, there is the risk that the temperature outside of the desired
scan area will be measured.
The circular laser helps to aim at the exact area to be measured. The laser circle and
the measuring spot are congruent at a distance of 1.5m.
8. Setting the emissivity
The device is factory set to an emissivity of 0.95. This value is appropriate for many
applications (food, plastic ...). Please only change the emissivity if you deem it strictly
necessary.
To change the emissivity, please note the following steps:
•
Press and hold the SEL button.
•
The symbol will be fl ashing.
•
Press the or button to reduce the value (down to 0.1) or to increase the
value (up to 1.00).
The device will now measure under the newly set emissivity.
To reset the factory setting, wait until the device has switched off automatically.
Open the battery compartment, remove the battery and reinsert it again.
Please take note of the following:
•
Not recommended for use in measuring shiny or polished metal surfaces
(stainless steel, aluminum, etc.).
•
The device cannot measure through transparent surfaces such as glass or
plastic. It will measure the surface temperature of the glass instead.
