Steam Iron IW1
CONNECTING AND USING THE STEAM IRON
Filling the Iron with Water
Ensure the iron is unplugged from the mains and set the variable steam control to
the No Steam position .
Open the water tank filling inlet and fill the water tank through the filling inlet. Do
NOT exceed the MAX marks on the side of the iron.
When filling, use the utensil provided with the iron. Do NOT fill directly from the
tap.
If the water is very hard, it is advisable to fill the iron with distilled water or a 50:50
mix of distilled water and tap water. The harder the water, the more the iron should
be cleaned (see Cleaning).
Ironing
Ensure that the mains socket is switched off at the wall.
Fill the iron with water as described.
Place the iron on the ironing rest of the ironing board, on its heel in an upright
position. Connect the plug to the wall socket. Switch on the power at the wall
socket.
Note:
Some parts of the iron have been slightly greased and as a result might
smoke slightly when the iron is switched on for the first time. This will cease after a
short while.
The temperature indicator marked with a single dot will start to flash. This indicates
that the power is on, and that the iron has started to heat up to the lowest
temperature setting of the iron.
The iron temperature can be set by using the two buttons marked with arrows at
the top of the Temperature Control Panel. For example:
•
To increase the temperature setting, for example from one dot to two dots,
press the button.
•
To decrease the temperature setting, for example from two dots to one dot,
press the button.
A beep will sound when the temperature setting has changed.
When the iron has heated up to the selected temperature, the light(s) on the
selected temperature indicator will stop flashing, and a beep will sound.
During use, the indicator lights will start to flash again as the thermostat maintains
the iron at the selected temperature setting.
Using Steam
To dry iron, set the variable steam
control to the No Steam setting .
If steam ironing is required, turn the
variable steam control to the correct
level of steam for the fabric. The
highest level of steam is indicated
with the symbol.
Note
: Steam ironing is only possible
at the highest temperature setting,
as indicated by the MAX
temperature level indicator. Do NOT
attempt to use steam at lower
temperatures as water will leak from
the soleplate.
Spraying Steam
The burst of steam facility provides
additional steam for removing
stubborn wrinkles. It may be used
when steam ironing or dry ironing.
Press the burst of steam button
to release a burst of steam. You
may need to press the button several times to prime the burst system.
Wait a few seconds for the steam to penetrate the fabric before pressing the button
again.
The burst of steam facility may be used when the iron is in a vertical position, to
remove wrinkles from hanging garments, curtains etc.
Note
: For optimum steam quality, do not apply more than three successive bursts.
