5.2 Common sources of error
Note:
Comparable blood pressure measurements always require the same
conditions!
• Conditions should always be quiet.
• All efforts by the user to support the arm can increase blood pressure. Make
sure you are in a comfortable, relaxed position and do not flex any of the muscles
in the measurement arm during the measurement. Use a cushion for support if
necessary.
• If the arm artery lies considerably lower or higher than the heart, an erroneously
high or low blood pressure will be measured! Each 25-30cm difference in height
between your heart and the cuff results in a measurement error of 10 mmHg!
Cuff works Under the pressure range 0-300 mmHg
• Cuffs that are too narrow or too short result in false measurement values. Cuff
size is dependent upon the circumference of the arm (measured in the center).
• The size of the cuff supplied with the appliance allows an arm circumference
(measured at the center), between 22 and 40 cm (8.7” – 15.7”). This permissible
range of use is printed on the cuff.
Note:
Arm circumference should be measured with a tape measure in the center
of the upper arm keeping the muscle relaxed.
Note:
use only the cuff supplied with this blood pressure monitor; in case of
problems, please contact our customer service dialling toll-free number 800 200
899
• A cuff that is too loose can lead to incorrect measurement values or the error
code “Er 4” (Cuff too loose or air leak).
• With repeated measurements, blood accumulates in the arm, which can lead to
false results. Consecutive blood pressure measurements should be repeated
after a pause of at least 1 minute and after the arm has been raised to allow
accumulated blood to flow out normally.
5.3 Wearing the cuff
To wear the cuff correctly, refer to the
instructions below. An index is printed on the
cuff, see figure on the side, and the measuring
range for correct use of the cuff, see figure
below.
When the cuff is fasten, the index must be in
between the two limits marked on the cuff.
