Lightspeed Live Capture User Guide
Configuring Capture Resources
Lightspeed Live Capture employs a browser-based user interface together with
Vantage workflow-based transcoding software to ingest and encode live, live linear, or
tape-based source video into output media files. Lightspeed Live Capture is designed
to run on a single-server Vantage domain, or operate as a node within a multi-server
Vantage array.
Configuring Lightspeed Live Capture consists primarily of setting up Vantage and
customizing Vantage workflows to automate the capture process. The workflows are
made up of individual tasks called actions, which specify what tasks need to be
performed, such as discovering and capturing video sources, transcoding them into
media files, and delivering the files to specified destinations. In the case of Lightspeed
Live Capture, the primary actions are the Capture action and the Tape action.
Before a Lightspeed Live Capture workflow can be activated to capture media, you
must first configure Lightspeed Live Capture and Vantage as follows:
■
Configuring Settings for Your Facility
■
Using Inputs for Both Live Stream and Capture
■
The program used to perform these tasks is the Vantage Management
Console, which has an icon on your desktop. Later in this chapter we will
guide you in using the console to perform the tasks.
Workflows are designed using a program called the Vantage Workflow
Designer, which is also launched from a desktop icon. We will guide you
step by step in creating and activating a simple Capture workflow that will detect your
sources, encode them, and place your captured files into a storage location.
Once your Capture workflow is activated you're ready to start capturing. Capture
control is performed in the Lightspeed Live Capture web application. The Lightspeed
Live Capture Web API can also be used to control operations.
WARNING:
Do not uninstall the Lightspeed Live Stream application. Components of
the Live Stream application are needed in order for Capture to operate properly.
