Care and Maintenance
Cleaning the Converter Body
Clean only the exterior of the product using a soft cloth moistened with water
or an alcohol solution. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive elements. Under
no circumstances submerge the device or allow moisture to penetrate it.
CAUTION: Do not attempt to clean internal parts. Refer to qualified
service personnel.
Cleaning and Connecting Optical Fibers
CAUTION: Before connecting any fiber-optic cable to a port, inspect the
fiber using a fiber inspection microscope. Failure to do so may result in
permanent damage to the connectors and degradation in
measurements.
If the optical fiber is clean, proceed to connect it to the port. If the fiber is dirty,
clean it as follows:
1.
Gently wipe the fiber end with a lint-free swab dipped in isopropyl alcohol.
2.
Use compressed air to dry it completely.
3.
Visually inspect the fiber end to ensure its cleanliness.
To safely connect optical fibers:
1.
Carefully align the connector and port to prevent the fiber end from
touching the outside of the port or rubbing against other surfaces. If your
connector features a key, ensure that it is fully fitted into the port’s
corresponding notch.
2.
Push the connector in so that the fiber-optic cable is firmly in place, thus
ensuring adequate contact. If your connector features a screw sleeve,
tighten the connector enough to firmly maintain the fiber in place.
CAUTION: Do not over tighten, as this will damage the fiber and the
port. If your fiber-optic cable is not properly aligned and/or connected,
you will notice heavy loss and reflection.
