1.4 First time installation
Foreword
The receiver has a pre-set list of channels to offer the chance for less expert users to get started quickly and
view a given choice of satellite television channels. This channel list includes the most common channels on
the Italian market, transmitted by the Hotbird 13° East and Astra 19° East satellites.
Some of the pre-set channels in the list may not be viewable because:
•
they are coded channels Æ these channels require a Common Interface type decoder with a CAM
card facility (on sale at household electronics dealers or directly from the service provider)
•
the broadcaster has changed transmission parameters of the channel in the period between the
factory setting and installation of the receiver Æ run a new satellite scan (see section 3.2.1.3);
•
your antenna plant is only pointing on one of the two satellites, either Hotbird 13° East or Astra 19°
East.
If none of the pre-set channels in the list can be viewed:
•
your antenna plant is pointing on neither the Hotbird 13° East or Astra 19° East.
CAUTION!!!
The fact that some channels cannot be viewed does not mean that the receiver is faulty, just that the
information loaded in the pre-set channel list may be out of date or not suitable for your specific antenna.
If this happens, try restoring optimum operating conditions by:
•
deleting either the individual dead channels or even the whole channel list (see section 2.3),
•
reset all channels by a new channel scan (see section 3.2.1.3).
CAUTION!!!
Some special television programmes may be coded since satellite transmission rights have not been
granted. This is typical for certain films or sports events transmitted by Rai and Mediaset.
Viewing channels
To start viewing the pre-set channels right away, turn on the receiver by its ON/ST.BY button or the remote
control.
To change channel:
•
Press CHANNEL ▲ / ▼ on the remote control
•
Press the number buttons on the remote control
•
Press ▲ / ▼ on the front panel of the receiver
•
Press BROWSE on the remote control. This opens a menu with the channel list. Scroll down the list
with CHANNEL ▲ / ▼ or PAGE +/- and confirm your choice by pressing OK.
