DTGM31 Dj Adjustment
The Dj adjustment controls four parameters to minimize the deterministic jitter
(Dj) of the output signal of the DTGM31 output module. It is available only for the
combination of the DTG5000 Series mainframe and the DTGM31 output module.
Four parameters for the adjustment are saved in the non-volatile memory of the
DTGM31 output module. The deterministic jitter of the DTGM31 output module
varies depending on the mainframe and the output pattern data. The factory default
values are adjusted by using PRBS15 pattern data. You can minimize the
deterministic jitter in the output signal by executing this adjustment with the output
pattern data and the setting of the DTG5000 Series required actually use.
When to Perform
The DTGM31 Dj adjustment should be performed when the deterministic jitter
performance is not sufficient for your application. The following are situation for
Dj adjustment:
When using the DTGM31 output module the first time after purchase.
When changing the installed slot.
When installing an existing DTGM31 output module in a new DTG5000 main
frame.
When significantly changing the operating frequency and Dj is too large for
your application.
Equipment Required
One sampling oscilloscope or digital storage oscilloscope (Recommended
equipment: Tektronix TDS8000B or TDS6804)

SMA coaxial cables
Two attenuators

SMA terminator
Operating Procedure
Perform the adjustment according to the instructions shown on the screen.
Before starting the adjustment
1.
Install the DTGM31 output module in the slot you want to use, and connect the
cables as follows:
Attach the attenuators to the CH1 input and the Trigger Direct Input of the
sampling oscilloscope (if needed).
Attach the SMA terminator to the CH1 (CH1 Complementary) output of
the DTGM31.
