General Safety Information

When built-in
overheating

protection is not provided, use with an
approved overload equipped motor
control that matches motor input in full
load amps. Select or adjust overload
elements in accordance with control
instructions.

When built-in overheating protection is
provided, use with an approved motor
control that matches motor input in full
load amperes.

Hazardous
pressure.

Submersible pumps can develop very high
pressure in some situations. To prevent
tank blowup, install a pressure relief
valve able to pass full pump flow at 75
PSI. Install relief valve between pump and
tank.

Do not allow pump,
pressure tank,

piping, or any other system component
containing water to freeze. Freezing may
damage system, leading to injury or
flooding. Allowing pump or system to
freeze will void warranty.

1. Be sure all plumbing and wiring

conform to national and local codes
and ordinances.

2. Since most submersible pump

problems are electrical, all electrical
work must be done properly.

Therefore, have all electrical
hookup work or electrical
service done by a qualified
electrician or serviceman only!

3. The power supply for a submersible

pump should be a separate circuit,
independent of all other circuits. Be
sure it is equipped with a fuse and
disconnect box of ample capacity.

4. On rural installations it is better to

have the power supply be free of
any buildings, preferably on a direct
line from the transformer, so that in
case of fire the wires will be
protected from burning off and the
water supply will not be cut off.

5. Before working on motor, its

connected load or control box and
wiring, disconnect electrical power.
If disconnect switch is out of sight of
work location, lock switch in the
open position and tag it to prevent
unexpected application of power.

6. Shut off power when voltage drops

below 105 volts on 115 volt
installations and 210 volts on 230
volt installations to prevent motor
damage.

7. Be sure to provide adequate

ventilation for pressure switch and

control box to prevent moisture
damage to components.

8. Periodically check well seal at top of

well to prevent surface water
contamination.

9. Have a competent serviceman check

the installation at three year
intervals for preventive maintenance
on electrical controls.

10. PROTECT power cable from

scratches, cuts, or abrasions from
sharp objects or scraping on well
casing when lowering pump into
well.

11. Do not kink or cut power cable. Do

not allow power cable to come into
contact with oil, grease, hot
surfaces, or chemicals.

12.

To reduce risk of electrical shock

,

installation must comply with most
recent National Electrical Code (NEC)
Article 250 (Grounding).

Motor is supplied with a green
ground wire. Connect green motor
ground wire to a grounded metal
raceway system or building ground
system. Bond together and ground
all metal components in installation
(well casing, metal well pipe, motor,
etc.) to building ground system.
