11 - Various Other Functions
Metronome
This unit has a built-in metronome that can be used when
the recorder is running.
You can set it to work during both playback and recording
or only during recording.
1. When the recorder is stopped, press the
METRONOME button to open the
METRONOME
screen.
2. Set the following items.
Use the CURSOR (
5
/
b
) buttons to select the desired
item, and then use the JOG/DATA dial to set its value.
MODE
You can select from the following modes.

Set the metronome volume.

Set the time signature to 4/4, 3/4, etc.

3. After making the settings, press the HOME button
to return to the Home screen.
The metronome works according to the
MODE
setting
made in step 2 above.
When enabled, the METRONOME button flashes in
time with the metronome tempo.
The metronome signal is not recorded even if set to
work during recording.
NOTE
• When the metronome is working, you can monitor the
sound of the metronome through connected external
speakers. Note, however, in this case that the metronome
sound could also be recorded if you are using a
microphone to record in the same room.
• When the metronome is running, you can adjust the
LEVEL
item on the
METRONOME
screen, but other
items cannot be changed.
• You can use the metronome as a click track to help keep
time when recording rhythm guitar or bass, for example,
as the first tracks of a song.
• If you want to use the metronome alone for practice,
you can either turn each track's fader all the way down
during playback or play a song that does not have any
recordings.
MIDI Sync
This unit support MIDI Time Code (MTC) and MIDI Clock,
so synchronization with other equipment is possible.
The following synchronization types are available.
ª
MTC Master
You can synchronize the MTC generated by this unit with
external equipment (MTC compatible synthesizer, DAW,
etc.).
ª
MIDI Clock Master
You can synchronize external equipment (sequencer,
drum machine, etc.) with MIDI clock based on a specified
tempo.
NOTE
When MIDI clock master is active, in addition to the MIDI
clock, a variety of data, including start, stop, continue and
song position points is transmitted from this unit to another
device. When MTC master is active, full timecode messages
can be transmitted while locating the song position.
The synchronization settings are made under the
SYNC
item on the
MIDI
screen.
ª
FRAME TYPE
The MTC frame type used for transmission/reception is
always 30 (which is common for music and high-definition
video).
ª
GENERATOR
Select the sync signal output from the MIDI OUT jack.
• Select
MTC
to set this unit to MTC Master.
• Select
CLOCK
to set this unit to MIDI Clock Master.
• Select
OFF
when you do not want to output a sync
signal from the unit.
