New features in DM-24 version 2.1

TASCAM DM-24
Version 2.1 Release Notes
Talkback source
On the
MONITOR –OSC/COM
page, you can now choose
either
MIC/LINE
input 1 or 16 (in high sampling fre-
quency,
MIC/LINE
input 1 or 8) as the talkback
source. This allows you to use any microphone you
wish as a talkback mic, rather than the DM-24’s
built-in microphone.
This is especially helpful in situations such as ADR
rooms in post-production, where more than one per-
son needs to use the talkback mic. An omnidirec-
tional microphone can be mounted in the room for
this purpose.
ADAT S/MUX support
The DM-24 now supports S/MUX for 96 kHz con-
nections. This allows 96 kHz communication with
such devices as the Alesis HD-24, the MOTU
2408III and RME digital audio interfaces.
New default clock setting
Previously, the default clock setting for the DM-24
was to use TDIF as the clock source. This meant that
the
EXT CLOCK
indicator flashed if there was no
TDIF source at the default frequency.
In version 2.1, the default clock setting is now the
DM-24’s own internal clock, at 44.1 kHz (and the
EXT CLOCK
indicator therefore does not flash).
When the DM-24 is changed to the high sampling
frequency mode, the sampling frequency is 88.2 kHz.
