CONTROL BOX
A. DISC
Rotate the control clockwise away from ALL METAL to the DISC mode.
The DISC mode comes with automatic ground balance. Rotate the control slowly
clockwise to eliminate different rubbish objects. Rotate the control anticlockwise
to the end to the ALL METAL mode. ALL METAL also comes with automatic ground
balance. It’s used to find not only ferrous metal, but also non-ferrous metal (see
more details below).
B. VOLUME
Rotate the control clockwise to power on the unit. Rotate it fully
anticlockwise to power off the unit.
C. SENS
Rotate the control clockwise to get higher sensitivity. Rotate it
anticlockwise to decrease the sensitivity.
D. LOW BAT
Low battery indicator. When the LOW BAT indicator lights up, you
should replace the battery.
E. EAR
The 3.5 mm earphone jack for connecting earphones.
F. View meter
When the unit finds any metal target, the meter’s pointer swings to
the right.
TESTING AND USING THE DETECTOR
The metal detector has two operating modes: ALL METAL and DISC. ALL METAL
mode is used to find all kinds of metal targets. DISC mode is used to discriminate
the metal type.
In general use, first set the operating mode to ALL METAL and SENS to the high
position. Then hold the search coil parallel with the ground about 1–5 cm above
the surface. Sweep the search coil from side to side in a 7 cm arc line.
When the detector detects a buried target, it sounds a tone. You can make a visual
note of the exact spot on the ground where the detector beeps.
Then pause the search coil directly over this point on the ground. Move the search
coil straight forward away from you and straight back towards you a couple of
times. Meantime, slowly rotate the DISC control clockwise away from ALL METAL
until the unit does not sound or sounds a short tone. You can identify what kind of
metal is being rejected according to the setting position of DISC.

setting.

When the DISC control is set to the clockwise end, most metal is rejected, except
silver.
Factors that affect the detecting
Getting an accurate detecting result needs practice. Sometimes the detecting may
be restricted by certain factors:
• If there is interference from other instruments or electrical cables in your
searching area. Then lower the sensitivity, or change the searching area.
• When searching in a highly mineralised area, the unit will sound even if there’s
no metal. In this case, you can lower the sensitivity and increase the distance
between the search coil and the ground until the false signal disappears. If
necessary, reset DISC.
• When searching in an area full of rubbish, it’s better to set DISC to the 11:00
position, so that the unit can reject most nonvaluable metal objects such as
nails.
• Move away any metal digging tool when searching.
• The sensitivity level is generally in contradiction with that of the discrimination.
The higher the sensitivity level, the worse the discrimination will be. You can
lower the sensitivity to gain better discrimination.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE
1. Handle the detector gently and carefully. Dropping it can damage the circuit
boards and can cause the detector to work incorrectly.
2. Use the detector only in normal temperature environments. Temperature
extremes can shorten the life of electronic devices and damage the housing of
the detector.
3. Keep the detector dust and dirt free.
4. Wipe the detector with a damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals, cleaning
solvents or strong detergents to clean the detector.
