content than just the fundamental note which can create unwanted

pitch shift artifacts. Overtones, subharmonics and pitch variations when

playing chords will affect how “clean” the pitch shifting is. If you hear

strange artifacts when playing chords or a harsh sound when feeding an

overdriven/distorted signal to the pedal, it´s simply because the pedal

pitch shifts every frequency present in the signal. Hence, the cleaner

this signal is (frequency-wise and distortion-wise), the cleaner the pitch

shifting will be.

We recommend connecting the 8-ball directly to the instrument, or as

close as possible. This will make the effect more natural and pleasing to

the ear. Play simple chords or single note lines for best results.

HOW TO USE THE 8 BALL

Start by setting the mix knob to noon. This will give each octave roughly

the same volume as your dry signal when the controls are set to maxi-

mum. You can then adjust the octave controls to taste for each channel.

If you need more volume from one or more of the octave signals, turn

the mix knob up. This will bump up the octave volumes and attenu-

ate the dry signal at the same time, thereby keeping the overall output

more or less the same.

The trick is to play around with the levels by finding a good starting

point on the mix knob, then tweak each octave level to taste and com-

pensate on the mix knob, if needed.

Note: Although the algorithm is very precise and polyphonic, a signal

coming from an electric guitar/bass contains a lot more frequency
