Operating the CD player – Basic functions
The
CD 820 M
can be controlled using the buttons on
the front panel or the M-system remote control handset.
To operate the machine, and to see messages on the
integral system screen (on the
PT 820 M
), you must first
select CD as the listening source:
•
Press the
button on the
F6
remote control
handset
or
•
Press the
button on the front panel of the
PT 820 M
.
Inserting a CD
1.
Press the
button on the front panel to open
the disc drawer.
2.
Lay the disc in the
centre
of the appropriate recess in
the drawer,
with the playable side facing down
.
3.
Press the
button on the front panel to close
the disc drawer.
As soon as the drawer closes, the player reads the
„Table of Contents“ of the CD; the screen shows the
message
'

. During this period the machine
ignores any buttons you might press. Eventually the
screen displays the current mode of operation, the
number of tracks and the duration of the CD in the
drawer, e. g.:

Playing a CD
Briefly pressing the
/
button starts the
playback process. Playback commences, and the screen
displays the operating mode and the number of the track
currently playing:

At the end of the last track the CD stops, and the screen
again displays the message

and the total number
of tracks on the CD.
Variations
You can also start playing a CD by pressing the

buttons, even when the CD drawer is open, or by
entering the track number directly using the numeric
buttons on the remote control handset.
The disc drawer closes automatically, and playback
commences with the first (or directly entered) track.
Stopping playback
Briefly pressing the
/
button stops
playback. The screen displays the message

Briefly pressing the

mode opens the CD drawer.
Selecting a track during playback

When you release the button, playback is interrupted

Numeric track selection

When you press a numeric button (e. g. 1)
the screen shows the message:

For a period of about 3 seconds a marker
flashes. During this time you may
•
press a second numeric button to
complete a two-digit track number - the
machine
plays
the
selected
track
immediately.
•
If you do not press a second button and
the 3-second period is over, the input is
assumed to be a single-digit track number
- the machine plays the selected track.
Note:
If you enter a track number which is not present on the
CD, the screen displays the message
