Pressure wave velocity is dependant primarily upon pipe diameter and material. Correct determination of the
pressure wave velocity in the pipe is very important and can be achieved in two ways. The first is to use
“out
of bracket” events, which pass both
PIPEMINDER-S devices, to estimate the wave speed. The second is to use
a look up table. Table 2 shows how wave velocities vary with both pipe material and diameter (the reason for
the range in each case).
