Using portal pages to customize the user experience
The security gateway uses portal pages to customize the look and feel of the remote user interface. You
control the information and resource links displayed on the clientless VPN portal page by selecting
resource links to include in the portal pages. When the portal page is assigned to a role, all users who
are members of that role see the same resource links on the home page when they sign on. You can
create multiple portal pages to customize the clientless VPN interface for the differing needs of various
users.
You can control and modify the following portions of the clientless VPN home page by configuring
portal pages or clientless VPN logon policy:
Company logo and
name
Appear on many pages, including the user sign-on page. To customize the user experience,
replace the default Symantec logo and name with those of your organization. The logo and
name appear on all portal pages.
News items
Posts system-wide messages to display for a specific period of time. This can be used to warn
users of system downtime or maintenance. News items appear on all portal pages.
Manual navigation
Displays a text box where the user enters the customized URL of a pre-defined resource. If
the user has permission to access the resource (for example, it is defined in their access
profile), the resource displays in the content area. If you want to prevent the user from
entering URLs, this text box can be hidden as part of the logon policy.
Sign-Off
Ends the remote session and returns the user to the sign-in screen.
Account
administration
Lets users change their passwords, modify email account information, and delete the stored
single sign-on data. This link can be hidden as part of the login policy.
Help
Provides basic user-interface instructions.
Port forwarder
Displays a port forwarder status bar. The bar expands to show the current status of the port
forwarder and port forwarder connections.
QuickLinks
Opens frequently accessed internal resources. These are generated from the role’s portal
pages.
Portal pages
Displays list of resource links that are organized in categories. These links let users access
resources without knowing the URL.
