Customizing FTP features
You can modify the security gateway’s ability to handle and process FTP traffic to suit your specific
needs. This section presents an overview of the additional FTP capabilities the security gateway
supports, and the specific steps needed to configure those capabilities. This section assumes that you
have already configured the security gateway to send and receive files.
View the following sections to determine what customized FTP features you would like to implement.

Modifying the FTP greeting
At some point, you may decide that you want to modify the standard FTP greeting. This task shows you
where to look in the SGMI to modify the existing banner and set it to the banner of your choosing. This
change takes affect immediately after saving and activating your configuration.
Prerequisites
Complete the following tasks before beginning this procedure.

To modify the FTP greeting

In the SGMI, in the left pane, under Assets, click
Proxies
.

In the right pane, on the Proxies tab, click the FTP proxy and then click
Properties
.

In the Proxy Properties dialog box, on the General tab, in the Greeting message text box, type the
new greeting.

OK
.

Service group
Select the service group containing the ftp protocol.
