f) Setting function “BACKLIGHT”
The backlight compensation is to be set depending on the direction of the camera, e.g. if it can
occur that the camera points in the direction of the sun during the course of the day.
“OFF”
Backlight compensation turned off
“BLC”
Backlight compensation turned on
“HLC”
Turns on both the backlight compensation and an additional masking func-
tion for image areas that are too bright (too bright image areas are automati-
cally masked in the colour „black“)
This setting does lead to image distortions (too-bright areas are coloured
black), but this allows a better observation of the objects that lie directly
near the bright image portions as well as a better display of the image sig-
nals.
Furthermore, it serves to protect old CRT monitors or also plasma monitors
from the burning in of too-bright image areas if these are displayed for too
long a time (not required for monitors with LCD technology).
g) Setting function “PICT ADJUST”
All functions that are used for picture adjustment are gathered here:
“MIRROR”
Horizontal image mirroring
“BRIGHTNESS“ brightness
“CONTRAST” contrast
“SHARPNESS”:
sharpness of image
“HUE“ Colour
value
“GAIN” Colour
strength
h) Setting function “ATR”
This function can improve the presentation of images for which a signi
fi
cant contrast between
dark and light image areas exists.
If the camera is directed at a bright window indoors, for example, it is dif
fi
cult to see anything in
the image apart from the bright window.
If the function is activated (setting “ON”), the camera increases both brightness and contrast in
the dark areas.
The function is also very important at night, so that cars driving by, for example, with high-beam
headlamps do not cause the surroundings to no longer be visible.
