6-4 System Fans
In addition to one standard fan, up to two additional system fans may be installed
to the system. Each fan must have its own fan holder. If there is no holder for an
extra fan, one must be installed before adding the fan. Note that the system fans
are not hot-swappable.
Installing/Replacing System Fans
1. Power down the system and remove the cover as described in Section 6-2.
2. If replacing a failed fan, disconnect the fan's cabling from the motherboard
then remove the fan. (Skip this step if installing an optional fan.)
3. Place a new fan in the fan holder, making sure it faces in the correct direc-
tion.
4. Connect (or reeconnect) the fan cables to the motherboard.
5. Replace the chassis cover, reconnect the power cord and power up the
server.
