Replacing Exhaust Fans
Eight rear exhaust fans provide cooling for the nodes in the F414IS4 chassis. These fans
circulate air through the nodes as a means of lowering the internal temperature. The F414IS4
exhaust fans are easily removed from the chassis without tools. There is no need to uninstall
any other parts when replacing fans. These fans are easily removed and must be replaced
when they fail.
Replacing an Exhaust Fan
1. Determine the location of the failed fan.
2. Remove the power cord from the rear of the node with the failed fan.
3. Simultaneously squeeze both sets of release tabs on the top and bottom of the fan to
release it from the rear of the chassis.
4. Pull the failed fan from the rear of the chassis.
5. Insert a replacement fan into the fan bay in the rear of the chassis.
6. Push the fan into the bay until it clicks into the locked position.
