The SC823M chassis includes four fans for cooling and air circulation. Two dummy
fans are included as a place holder.

Replacing a System Fan
1. If necessary, open the chassis while the power is running to determine which
fan needs replacing. (Never run the server for an extended period of time with
the chassis open.)
2. Power down the system and remove the power cords from the rear of the
power supplies as described in Section 5-2.
3. Remove the hard drive tray. For instructions on doing this, see the Installing
the Motherboard section of this chapter.
4. Disconnect the system fan from the motherboard and lift the fan from the fan
tray.
