3. Pull on the fan canister handle to slide it out of the chassis.
The canister fits fairly snugly into the slot. You may need to pull firmly on the
handle to get the canister started out of the slot.
4. Install the new controller fan canister, sliding the canister firmly into the slot
(reverse of
FIGURE 8-1
).
5. Push in on the thumbscrew and tighten it (clockwise).
The thumbscrew is spring-loaded and will not tighten unless the fan canister is
inserted all the way into the chassis. If the thumbscrew keeps spinning without
tightening, push on the front of the fan canister until it snaps into place.
6. Make sure the green Power LED on the front panel is lit and the amber LEDs are
off.

If the amber fan LED turns on, make sure that the canister is inserted all the
way into the chassis and the thumbscrew is tight.

If the amber fan LED remains on, it may indicate that there is a problem with
the new fan canister. Replace the controller fan canister with another one if it is
available.
■
If you do not have a spare controller fan, turn off the controller module to
prevent it from overheating while you get a replacement fan.
7. Replace the front panel.
