cPCI Card Ejection Lever Jams
cPCI cards can jam in the cPCI assembly if improperly handled.
When inserting a cPCI card press on the front panel to completely seat the card in
the I/O assembly then push the lever in to lock the lever in place. Do not press on
the lever when inserting the card. When removing a cPCI card press the red lever
lock in the lever sideways to unlock the lever, press the lever outward to eject the
card then slide the card out of the slot.

Fan Speed Message
Fan speed message says “WARNING” instead of “NOTICE” when the fan changes
speed. The fans will go from low to high speed when either CPU, AISC or board
temperatures cross 80C, 95C and 65C respectively. The system is OK and still within
the thermal specification when this “WARNING” message appears.
Firmware On Replacement Boards
After installing a board or assembly the service provider must check the firmware
version on the new board or assembly using the
showboards -p proms
command
to determine if the firmware needs to be updated. If an update is required use the
system controller
flashupdate
command. Refer to the Sun Fire 6800/4810/4800/3800
System Controller Command Reference Manual for details on the
flashupdate
command.
Sun Fire Cabinet Fan Tray Power Switches
If the Sun Fire cabinet fan trays do not work make sure that the fan trays are
switched on. The fan tray power switches are located in the back of each cabinet fan
trays below the power cord socket.
