Maintenance and Cleaning
25
Maintenance:
- Never use the heating unit without water!
- Heating unit has to be
bled regularly once per month.
! Attention: hot water may escape !
- Heating unit has to be thoroughly
cleaned and decalcified at least twice per year,
if required several times per year: frequency depends on local water hardness and quality.
Proceedure:
1. Put the main switch on
0 = OFF.
For cleaning purposes the heating unit has to be separated from main current!
2. Pull the plug of the heating element. Turn off water flow. Drain water line completely.
! Attention: in case of drainage hot water can escape!
3. Screw out the heating element -> only turn at hexagon steel plate
4. Put heating element into a bucket with cleaner, or anti-liming agent e.g. vinegar
essence
5. Let the anti-liming agent to react
-> time for reaction depends on used cleaner and level of lime deposits (30 min - 4 hours)
6. Clean the cast iron cage with a bottle brush
-> In case of intense deposits (minerals/rust/lime/incrustation deposits) also clean the cast
iron cage with the lime cleaner -> flush the heating unit with the clear water --> then wash
up the heating element with the clear water
7. Assemble it in reverse order
8. Start the heating unit (see page 17)
9.
Dispose the cleaner in a environment-friendly way.
Each type of water deposits impurities and lime at high temperature.
These deposits have a negative impact on functioning and product life of the heating unit.
Therefore it is necessary to decalcify the heating unit and the heating element
from time to time.
That is
the reason why in case of hard water conditions an anti-liming unit should be placed before the
circuit.
