4 Safety Precautions
■ Easily combustible and explosive liquids that are sucked
in can cause fires and explosions. This can result in
serious or fatal injuries and damage to property.
► Do not suck in or spread easily combustible or explosive
liquids.
■ Irritating, caustic and toxic liquids that are sucked in can
be a health hazard and damage the water pump. This can
result in serious or fatal injuries and damage to property.
► Do not suck in or spread irritating, caustic or toxic
liquids.
■ The water pump is neither germ-free nor food-safe. If
liquid foodstuffs are sucked in, they are contaminated.
► Do not suck in or spread liquid foodstuffs.
■ The water pump can be damaged if it is not filled with
water before starting the engine.
► Fill the water pump with water before starting the
engine.
■ Objects can be sucked into the water pump if the strainer
is not fitted. The water pump can be blocked or damaged.
► Fit the strainer.
■ The water pump’s engine is not waterproof. The engine
can be damaged if the water pump is placed in water.
► Operate the water pump on a dry surface.
■ Carelessly laid hoses can be damaged and cause others
to trip or fall. This can result in injuries and may damage
the hoses.
► Position and mark hoses so they do not represent a trip
hazard.
► Position the hoses so that they are not under tension or
entangled.
► Position the hoses so that they cannot be damaged,
kinked, pinched or chafed.
► Protect the hoses from heat, oil and chemicals.
4.9 Transporting
WARNING
■ The water pump may turn over or shift during transport.
This may result in personal injuries and damage to
property.
► Shut off the engine.
► Secure the water pump with lashing straps or a net to
prevent it turning over and moving.
■ The muffler and engine may be hot after a period of
operation. There is a risk of burn injuries.
► Carry the water pump by the handle with the muffler
away from your body.
■ Water can freeze in water pump components at
temperatures below 0°C. This can damage the water
pump.
► Drain the water pump.
4.10 Storing
WARNING
■ Children are not aware of and cannot assess the dangers
of a water pump and can be seriously injured.
► Shut off the engine.
► Store the water pump out of the reach of children.
■ Dampness can corrode the electrical contacts on the
water pump and metal components. This can damage the
water pump.
► Store your water pump in a clean and dry condition.
■ Water can freeze in water pump components at
temperatures below 0°C. This can damage the water
pump.
► Drain the water pump.
