Never 

attempt to 

modify 

your power 

tool in any way since this can be 
extremely dangerous and result in 
serious or fatal injury. STIHL cannot 
accept any liability for personal injury or 
damage to property caused by 
modifications to the power tool or using 
attachments not approved by STIHL.

Clothing and Equipment

Wear proper protective clothing and 
equipment.

Clothing must be sturdy 
and snug-fitting, but allow 
complete freedom of 
movement. An overall and 
jacket combination is 
recommended, do not 
wear a coat.

Avoid loose-fitting jackets, scarves, 
neckties, jewelry or anything that could 
become caught on wood or brush.

Secure long hair (cap, 
hard hat, etc.).

Wear steel-toed 

safety 

boots

 with non-slip soles. 

Wear 

safety glasses 

for 

protection from thrown 
objects.

Wear hearing protection, e.g. ear plugs 
or ear muffs.

Wear 

heavy-duty, 

non-slip gloves

preferably made of 
leather.

STIHL has a full line of safety clothing 
and equipment.

Transporting the Machine

Always turn off the engine. Carry the unit 
by the carrying handle.

Attachment in front of you.

Hot muffler away from your body.

The dethatcher may be dragged 
backwards (opposite to normal direction 
of operation) for short distances. Never 
attempt to move it around by pushing it 
forwards (normal direction of operation) 
as this could result in serious damage. 
The spring tines might break.
