Fuselage Continued
Motor Mount Assembly
24.
Fit ply motor mount supports F15 and F16 to the
BOTTOM
of ply motor mount F17. Tack
glue to retain parts using medium CA glue.
25.
Fit and bond motor mount assembly to the
front
of former F2.
Cowl Assembly
26.
Fit nose former F18 to the tabs on the
front
of F15 and F16.
Note: The tabs of parts F15
and F16 will extend beyond the forward surface of part F18 by 1/8 in.
Ensure that F18 sits
flush against the
front
flat of F15 and F16, and bond with CA glue.
27.
Fit nose former F19 to the
front
of F18,
over
the tabs of parts F15 and 16 protruding
forward
of F18. Once satisfied with the fit of these parts bond with CA glue.
28.
Create part F20, nose sheeting, by fitting and bonding parts F20a and F20b together.
29.
Moisten one side of F20 with glass cleaner and allow to soak for a minute or two. Fit F20 -
moist side out - to the tabs on F2 and F18. Carefully bend the edges of F20 around the
top
edge of formers F2 and F18 until the
outside
edges of parts contact the
upper
edge of the
right
and
left
fuselage sides. Hold in position with low-tack masking tape until dry. When
completely dry, remove tape, check/adjust the fit of part F22, and bond with CA glue.
30.
Moisten one side of
bottom
sheeting F21 with glass cleaner and allow to soak for a minute
or two. Position F21 over F2 and F18 - moist side out - with the “cut-out” in F21 toward the
back. Carefully bend F20 around the lower radius of formers F2 and F18 until the
outside
edges of F21 contact the
lower
edge of the
right
and
left
fuselage sides. Hold in place with
low-tack masking tape until dry. When completely dry, remove tape, check/adjust the fit of
part F21, and bond with CA glue.
Finishing Up!
31.
Revisit any parts not previously bonded and lightly bond with thin or medium CA glue. Don’t
go nuts here! - Just bond anything overlooked in assembly. This is a light model and every
gram of CA glue you add to the model adds a gram of weight to the completed model and
excessive weight undesirable.
Now, lightly sand the fuselage with a sanding block loaded with fine grit paper. Be careful
when sanding that you don’t get overzealous and damage the wing rib profile. More
detailed sanding guidance is given in the assembly steps that follow. Turn the page!
