Place the unit at maximum height, see Section 3.2.1
Height Adjustment. Press
down on the release pedal nearest the foot end (Figure 3-7) until desired position
is obtained then remove pressure.

3.3 Fowler Backrest
Operation
3.3.1 Raising the Fowler
Backrest
Grasp the fowler frame tube on either corner of the fowler backrest frame tube
(Figure 3-8). With fingertips, grasp the fowler gas spring activating handle
(Figure 3-9). Slowly squeeze activating handle against the fowler frame tube.
With the gas spring activated, adjust the fowler backrest to needed position.
Once the required position is achieved, release the fowler activating handle,
then release the fowler frame tube.
NOTE: Depending on the patient’s size, the force required to adjust the backrest
may vary.

3.3.2 Lowering the Fowler

to lower and/or support the
backrest may vary, depend-
ing on the patient size and
position.
Grasp the fowler frame tube on either corner of the fowler backrest frame tube
(Figure 3-10). With fingertips, grasp the fowler gas spring activating handle
(Figure 3-9). Slowly squeeze activating handle against the fowler frame tube.
NOTE: Be prepared to support the backrest if needed.
With the gas spring activated, adjust fowler backrest to needed position (Figure
3-10). Once the required position is achieved, release the fowler activating
handle, then release the fowler frame tube.
