3.4 Retracto Rail
Operation
3.4.1 Raising Rail to Full
Height
Grasp the rail top cap at the center of the rail (Figure 3-11). Lift the rail all the way
up (Figure 3-12). When the rail locks in the full upright position, you will hear a
clicking sound. Check the rail lock by trying to return the rail to the previous
position.
NOTE: Be sure rail is locked securely before leaving patient.
3.4.3 Lowering the Rail
Grasp the rail top cap at the center of the rail (Figure 3-12). With free hand, lift
upward on the rail lock plate (Figure 3-13). Keep the lock plate lifted while
lowering the rail until the half height lock is passed (Figure 3-14). Release lock
plate and lower rail completely (Figure 3-11).
NOTE: Never leave the patient unattended with the rail down.

3.4.2 Raising Rail to Half
Height
Grasp the rail top cap at the center of the rail (Figure 3-11). Slowly lift the rail
approximately half way up (Figure 3-14). Stop lifting when you hear the rail lock
click as it engages. Lower the rail slightly. Check the rail lock by trying to return
the rail to the down position.
NOTE: Be sure rail is locked securely before leaving patient.
