1 Introduction
The SLTSD is available in following configuration:
two Reed-contacts for the fluid level control and two programmable switching outputs for the temperature
control.
1.1 Intended range of Use
The SLTSD is designed for level and temperature control in fluid systems. All types are intended for
industrial use only.
The media temperature has to be between -20 °C and 80 °C (-4 °F and 176 °F) and must not be exceeded.
The level switch must not be used in highly flammable or corrosive fluids. In order to avoid accumulation of
particles at the float or between float and immersion tube, the medium must be free of particles, especially
of metallic particles. If necessary, use a filter to clean the medium.
WARNING
All devices are designed for industrial application only. They are not applicable as safety
components. The level switches
MUST NOT
be applied in areas where the breakdown or
by malfunction will affect safety and health of persons. The device is
NOT
applicable for
hazardous
areas.
1.2 Level Control
They can be used for monitoring fluid levels in tanks. The level contacts (reed contacts) are placed inside
the tube and are actuated by the magnet in the float. They are pre-installed in defined distances and cannot
be altered. The immersion tube is placed inside the reservoir.
The switching state of the level contacts is signaled electrically only via connector A.
1.3 Temperature Control
The temperature is measured using a RTD (Pt100) mounted to the bottom of the immersion tube. The
switching outputs are programmable from 0°C to 100°C (32°F to 212°F).
The SLTSD is equipped with up to four switching outputs or one switching output combined with a
programmable analog output for temperature control.
The switching characteristic of the output is programmable as NO/NC contact with window- or hysteresis-
output characteristic or as frequency output. A menu based on VDMA standard 24574 provides easy
programming. Minimum and maximum temperature can be stored permanently. A logbook stores the last 6
events of the monitored switching output. The logbook can be looked up.
