Intended use
The Staudte Hirsch USB Charging Adapter SH-3.180 is suitable for charging portable
devices with a USB port such as cell phones, tablet PCs, MP3 players etc. via a 12 V
on-board battery. Any other use than described before may damage this product or
the consumer connected to it. In addition, improper use may result in serious hazards,
such as short-circuit, fire or electrical shock.

Safety instructions
The following safety notes and hazard warnings serve for the protection of both the device
and your health. So please read the following points thoroughly.
General
For safety and technical approval reasons (CE), any unauthorized conversion and/or
modification of the product is inadmissible.
The product must only be set up, operated and stored in a place which is out of the reach
of children. Danger of life!
Do not leave packing materials unattended. It could become a hazardous toy for children!
Maintenance, installation or repair works may only be performed by an expert/qualified
workshop. Use only original spare parts for repair work. The use of any other spare parts
may lead to serious damage to property and personal injury!
If you recognise damages, stop using the charger. Bring the product to a qualified work-
shop or dispose of it in an environmentally compatible manner.
Operation
The use of the product under unfavourable environmental conditions must be avoided
under all circumstances. Unfavourable environmental conditions include: ambient tem-
peratures above 40 °C, flammable gases, solvents, vapours, dust and relative humidity in
excess of 80 %.
The device may not be operated in the presence of flammable materials or gases.
Ensure proper ventilation during the operational phase, never cover the device.
Never start the device immediately after having taken it from a cold into a warm room.
Condensation water may be generated leading to malfunctioning!
Make sure that the device and connected consumers are properly fixed. If the fixation is
insufficient, there is a risk that they will come loose during the ride.
For traffic safety reasons, the connection of consumers and any operation of the device
while driving must be avoided.
Notes on the rechargeable battery
Please observe all safety and charging information of the battery manufacturer.
Never short-circuit rechargeable batteries or toss them into fire. Fire and explosion
hazard!
Never disassemble your battery!

Discharge protection
At a voltage of 11.8 V, the USB charging adapter switches off automatically to protect the
connected on-board battery. This ensures that there is always enough energy left in the
battery to start your vehicle.
Note:
Since the device has an internal consumption, the adapter must be disconnected from
the battery for longer periods of idle time.
Operation and display elements
Startup procedure and battery change
This device is only suitable for the operation on 12 V rechargeable batteries. Therefore,
rechargeable batteries with other voltages or a charging device must not be connect to it!
First, connect the adapter cable with eyelet rings to the 12 V on-board battery. Observe
the correct polarity (red = +, black = -)! The adapter cable can remain permanently
connected to the on-board battery.
Note:
All chargers from the Staudte Hirsch range that are suitable for the on-board
battery can be connected via the adapter cable to charge the battery or maintain it
during winter. Safety and charging instructions from the battery manufacturer must
be observed!
Then connect the adapter cable with eyelet rings to the quick-contact plug (5). The
battery diagnosis turns on automatically and shows the current voltage value on the
LED display (2). You can turn off the voltage display by pressing the On/Off button (1).
If the charging status indicator (3) lights up in red, the input voltage is too low and the
discharge protection is active. In order to provide sufficient energy to start the engine,
the connected consumer is not charged. If necessary, disconnect the USB charging
adapter from the on-board battery and charge it.
Note:
Turn off LED display (2) during the charging process to reduce power consumption.
Lastly, establish a connection between the USB output (4) and the charging cable of the
consumer. The charging process starts automatically. You can check the charging status
on the display of the connected consumer (cell phone, tablet, etc.).
Note:
A charging cable for the consumer is not included in the delivery content.
Disposal note
At the end of its useful life, this product may not be disposed of
together with normal household waste, but has to be dropped off at a
collection center for the recycling of electrical and electronic devices.
Please ask your local authorities for the appropriate disposal center.
