The appliance is phase-sensitive. It is
an absolute requirement
that the
phase (L) from the mains supply is connected to the phase of the appliance
and the neutral (N) from the mains supply is connected to the neutral of the
appliance.
Furthermore, there should not be
any voltage differential
between neutral
(N) and earth (

). If this is the case then an isolating transformer should be
