Warning!

The vibration emission value during actual use of

the power tool can differ from the declared value depending
on the ways in which the tool is used. The vibration level may
increase above the level stated.

When assessing vibration exposure to determine safety
measures required by 2002/44/EC to protect persons regularly
using power tools in employment, an estimation of vibration
exposure should consider, the actual conditions of use and the
way the tool is used, including taking account of all parts of the
operating cycle such as the times when the tool is switched off
and when it is running idle in addition to the trigger time.

Warning!

To reduce the risk of injury, the user

must read the instruction manual.

Electrical safety

#

This tool is double insulated; therefore no earth
wire is required. Always check that the power
supply corresponds to the voltage on the rating
plate.

If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the
manufacturer or an authorised BLACK+DECKER Service
Centre in order to avoid a hazard.

Using an extension cable

Always use an approved extension cable suitable for the
power input of this tool (see technical data). Before use,
inspect the extension cable for signs of damage, wear
and ageing. Replace the extension cable if damaged or
defective. When using a cable reel, always unwind the
cable completely. Use of an extension cable not suitable
for the power input of the tool or which is damaged or
defective may result in a risk of

fi

 re and electric shock.

Assembly

Warning!

Before assembly, make sure that the tool is

switched off and unplugged.

Attaching 1/4 sheet sandpaper (

fi

 g.A)

Warning!

lock the sander off during sanding disc installation.

Refer to “Lock Off” section.

Lift clamps up with your thumb, (Fig. A). Rotate the clamp
(4) downward until the clamp is fully opened.

Lay sandpaper on a

fl

at surface and, centering the pad of

the unit, press the sander down

fi

 rmly onto the paper.

Wrap ends of the sandpaper around ends of the sander
pad and clamp them in place using the clamps.

To close clamps, rotate clamp handles back up as far as
they will go and lock them in place. Stretch sandpaper as
tight as possible when clamping.

NOTE:

On new tools the sandpaper may be dif

fi

 cult to install

because of the stiffness of the sanding pad. This condition will
improve as the pad compresses over time.

Fitting sanding sheets with nylon loops

Make sure that the tool is switched off and unplugged.

Press the sheet

fi

rmly and evenly onto the sanding base

making sure that the holes in the sheet line up with the
holes in the base.

Use

Warning!

Let the tool work at its own pace. Do not overload.

On/off

Hold the sander as shown in Figure C and squeeze so
the paddle (1) depresses without putting pressure on the
workpiece.

To turn the tool off, release the paddle.

Operation

Grasp the sander as shown in

fi

gure B and turn it ON. Move it

in long, sweeping strokes along the surface, letting it do
the work

.

Pushing down on the tool while sanding actually slows the
removal rate and produces an inferior quality

fi

 nish.

Check your work often. Sander is capable of removing
material rapidly especially with coarse paper.

Lock on/lock off slider

This sander is equipped with a switch that allows you to lock
it on for extended use, and lock off to prevent accidental
actuation.
