On the air cylinder (1), the right-hand valve adjustment screw (F), is to adjust the knee flexion
damping. The left-hand valve adjustment screw (E) is to adjust the knee extension damping.
After  the  stance  friction  brake  has  been  optimally  adjusted,  the  knee  flexion  damping  can  be
adjusted utilizing a 3mm hex head wrench.

Valve screw rotation:



Clockwise (+) increases flexion damping force.



Counter- Clockwise (-) decreases flexion damping force.

Important!

Be aware that the brake sensitive adjustments and pneumatic valve adjustments will
compliment each other and can affect the patients walking speed. This can occur by
the  pneumatics  speed/force  input  affecting  the  latest  brake  sensitivity  adjustment

performed,  so  it  is  important  to  verify  through  visual  and  verbal  patient  feedback
during walking in the parallel bars to reach the optimum settings.

Fig. 6

Note:

Increasing  (+)  the  flexion  damping  force  may  increase  the  extension  damping  force

making knee extension speed to become slow. To increase the knee extension speed, adjust
Knee Extension Damping Counter- Clockwise (-) to decrease extension damping.
