6. MAINTENANCE
The inherent quality of the solid-state components in this radio will provide
many years of continuous use. Take the following precautions to prevent
damage to the radio.
Keep the microphone connected or the jack covered at all times to pre-
vent corrosion of electrical contacts;
Never key the transmitter unless an antenna or suitable dummy load is
connected to the antenna receptacle.
Use only STANDARD HORIZON-approved accessories and replacement
parts.

Use the
MEM
key to enter
desired channels into the
transceiver’s memory.
Adjust the squelch to thresh-
old or to the point where noise
just disappears. Further ad-
justment of the squelch con-
trol may eliminate incoming
signals.
HOLD down the
16/9
key and
press the
DW
key.
Charge battery. Refer to sec-
tion 3 of this manual.
Turn Key Lock off. Refer to
section 4.1.
