Maintenance, repair, commissioning
• Before commissioning, make sure that the device is not damaged.
• Work on the device, such as installation, maintenance, overhaul, repair, may only be
carried out by appropriately authorised and trained personnel.
• Perform only maintenance work or repair described in these operating instructions.
• Do not insert or disconnect the RJ45 plug connectors and the auxiliary power during
operation in potentially explosive areas.
• Always clean the device with a damp cloth to avoid electrostatic charge.

Function
Application range
The Media Converters 9721 are used for the implementation of an electrical Ethernet net
-
work (TX) to fibre optic (FX). The fibre optic is used for operation in potentially explosive
areas of Zone 0, 1 and 2 with the type of protection "op is" (IEC/EN 60079-28). Therefore,
conventional fibre optic cables can also be used in hazardous areas and may be connect
-
ed and disconnected during operation (hot swap).
