Commissioning
All installed functional units are
completely pre-assembled in the
Steel system. All that is necessary is
connection to the installation.

Circuit diagrams are provided in the
relevant system manuals. These are
enclosed with the line rectifier/server.
The commissioning process includes
defining and restricting the distance
range and pick-up angle, and con-
figuring the OFF delay and photo
-
electric lighting controller settings.
To do this, the panel of the func-
tional unit must be removed.

Release the operating panel using
the enclosed mounting key and take
it off.

Unscrew and remove the BMM
from the mounting plate.

Remove the panel of the BMM.
Restricting the range/pick-up
angle
Plastic shield inserts are provided
with the BMM. These can be used if
required to limit the lateral pickup
angle and the range.

Insert the BMM without panel
into the mounting plate and mount.

Score the plastic shield insert
using a sharp knife at the required
marking line, break off and touch up
the rough edge if necessary.

Application
The movement sensor module func-
tional unit picks up thermal radiation
of the kind given off by moving
bodies (e.g. by people) within a
defined area. The thermal radiation
picked up by the sensor is converted
electronically and used to switch a
connected consumer (e.g. a light).
If obstacles such as panels or walls
prevent thermal radiation from being
picked up, no switching operation is
performed.
There are two sensors integrated
in the movement sensor module.
Together these achieve a pick-up
angle of 180°. By covering the lens,
the horizontal and vertical pick-
up area of the movement sensor
module can be adjusted to individual
requirements.
Three integrated switching outputs
can be used separately:
• Output D switches on at dusk,
• Output B switches in response to
movement,
• Output D/B is a series circuit com
-
prising outputs D and B.
All three switching outputs have a
common reference point G.
For consumers with heavy current
connection, remote switching relays
12 V/230 V AC with a suitable
switching capacity must be used.
If external light buttons are addi-
tionally used in the same circuit, a
time switch relay (staircase timer) is
required.
The movement sensor module is not
suitable for use with alarm systems.
The movement sensor module
functional unit SBMM 611… will
be referred to in the following as
the BMM.
Electrical voltage
Mounting, installation and servicing
work on electrical devices may only
be performed by a suitably qualified
electrician.
Conductor material
For installation of the movement
sensor module, bell wires, light cur-
rent cables or telecommunication
cables with core diameter 0.8 mm
can be used.

Conductor routing
In order to comply with the general
safety regulations for telecom-
munication systems in accordance
with VDE 0100 and VDE 0800, and
to prevent electrical interference,
ensure separate routing of heavy
and light current conductors. A dis-
tance of 10 cm must be adhered to.
Mounting location
The mounting position is frequently
predetermined by combination
withthe intercom system. The ideal
mounting height for entryway
intercom systems is between 1.40
and 1.60 m above the finished
floorlevel.

The range of the BMM depends
on the mounting height and
approach direction. The specified
ranges apply only in the event of an
approach angle at right angles to
the sensor.
