NOTE:
The GPS LED will fast-blink green after a satellite transmission.

1. With a Phillips-head screwdriver, unscrew the 4 enclosure screws keeping the two
halves of the SPOT Trace together.
2. Insert the included lithium batteries and ensure they are oriented correctly.
3. Combine the two halves of the Trace evenly and hold a firm grip at the center of the
unit while screwing unit together.
4. An amber LED will appear for approximately 5 seconds, then the LED will extinguish.
5. Power the device on by pressing the power button until the LEDs display the power
on sequence – both the power and satellite LEDs will flash.
6. After 1-5 minutes, the device should obtain a GPS signal and will enter Track Mode
7. Keep batteries installed even when using external DC source.

PLEASE NOTE:
If using an External DC source, SPOT Trace will NOT be waterproof
unless using the Waterproof – DC Power Cable (sold separately).
IMPORTANT NOTE:
A reconfiguration of SPOT Trace is required after certain features are
edited. SPOT Trace must be plugged into your computer with the included USB cable to
successfully complete a reconfiguration.

• Mount the unit with logo pointed toward the sky with an unobstructed view.
• Test possible mounting locations for best performance.
• SPOT Trace transmits through fiberglass, fabric, and glass, but other materials may
affect performance.
• Keep SPOT Trace at least 12 inches away from other GPS devices, as it can interfere
with the signal reception.
