4. System
Installation
4.1. Facility Analysis
Check the site to be sure pre-installation work has been completed correctly. This
includes:
Location chosen for the shelves is adequate.
Rack (if rack mounted) is properly secured or backboard (if wall mounted) is properly
prepared.
Power is available.
Wiring to Base Station locations has been pulled and correctly terminated.
Phone lines for the Wireless Telephones are installed and properly terminated.
Telephone system administrator is on-site to program the existing telephone system.
If the work has not been completed, the SpectraLink installer may leave the site and
reschedule the installation when the items have been completed or corrected, or may
assist in preparing the site.
4.2. Check Components
At the installation site, unpack the system carefully, verify that there is no shipping
damage, and store in a safe place. As the installer unpacks, he or she must confirm that
contents are correct by comparing with the shipping documents.
Before beginning the system installation, begin charging a Wireless
Telephone. The Battery Packs for the Wireless Telephones are not charged
when shipped. At least one fully charged Wireless Telephone is required to
test the system.
The following items should be at the installation site.
•
Link 3000 MCU Shelves
– (MCS300) - depending on the size of the system, there
may be up to 20 shelves.
•
Link WTS MCU Administration Kit
– (MKA320) - includes a grounding strap to
protect cards from electrostatic discharge; an external modem for remote access to the
system; and documentation including a User Guide for each Wireless Telephone, and
a videotape that explains basic usage of the Wireless Telephone.
•
System Controller Card
– (CSC301, CSC306, or CSC320) - one card for each
system. This card is double width and installed in slots 1 and 2 of the Primary Shelf.
•
OAI System Controller Card
– (CSO301, CSO306, CSO320) –on systems that
support OAI, one card for each system. Expansion shelves must be equipped with
