2. USING AUTO SENSE OR TRIGGERED INPUTS
Auto sense is the ability of the TIME Mini Amp/Controller to sense audio being played into the Subwoofer Amplifier.
When Audio is sensed at the input of the Subwoofer Amplifier, all TIME Mini Loudspeakers attached to it will be lowered into the
room, regardless of the trigger voltage being present or not. When audio is removed from the input to the Subwoofer Amplifier and
the voltage trigger is not present, the speakers will retract into the ceiling after a period of time (approximately 7 minutes).
There is no switch that disables the auto sense function. TIME Mini Speakers must be lowed into the room when audio is being
played through them.
If you would like to trigger the speakers to lower into the room, then you would attach a device to the Time Mini Amp/Controller
which would apply a voltage between 12-30VAC or DC. When the trigger voltage is removed and no audio is detected at the
amplifier inputs, the speakers will retract into the ceiling. If audio is present, the speakers will remain lowered into the room until
audio is removed from the amplifier and the delay time has elapsed since the removal of the audio.
3. BRINGING THE SPEAKERS INTO THE ROOM
When setting up the TIME Mini Amp/Controller for the TIME Mini Speakers. There are three options for lowering the speakers into the
room. It can be done automatically using the built in Auto Sense Function (as described in Step 2 of this section), by a 12-30V AC/
DC trigger voltage, also described above, or by IR commands from a remote control or IR system. All of these options are available
and need to be setup during the installation of the system. Consult an Authorized SpeakerCraft Installer to determine the correct
method for setting up the system properly.
CONNECTING THE TIME MINI AMP/CONTROLLER
CAUTION:
Do not power on the Controller until all TIME Mini speakers are connected to it and any peripheral control systems are
plugged into the Controller.
Serious damage could occur if you plug or unplug the Cat 5 connectors when power is applied to the
Controller
. Make sure that the Controller’s power supply is not connected to the unit while plugging in the speakers’ Control Cables
(Cat 5 with RJ45 connectors).
Attach all Control Cables (Cat 5 cable with RJ45 connectors) to the TIME Mini speakers and to the Controller. All speakers connected
to this Controller will move in unison.
When connecting the audio source to the amplifier, use either the LFE input or the Line Level L/R inputs. This decision is based on the
outputs available on your audio amplifier/receiver and what is convenient to this particular installation of the controller.
CONNECTING THE LFE OR LINE LEVEL AUDIO INPUTS & OUTPUTS
If your surround receiver or pre-amplifier has a single subwoofer (LFE) output, plug it into the LFE input jack on the TIME Mini Amp/
Controller. If your surround receiver or pre-amplifier only has stereo line level outputs, plug them into the L & R Line Level Input jacks
on the TIME Mini Amp/Controller.
Sources connected to the Left and Right Line Level or LFE Inputs can be forwarded to other components or amplifiers by connecting
to the corresponding Line Level or LFE Output jacks. These outputs are not altered by any of the TIME Mini Amp/Controller controls
or settings.
CAUTION:
Only make connection when the TIME Mini Amp/Controller is turned off at the switch or power is unplugged.
NOTE 1:
The LFE Input accepts the LFE Subwoofer Output signal from your receiver/pre-amp (if so equipped), but the signal bypasses
the crossover in the TIME Mini Amp/Controller. This is appropriate for use with the low-pass filtered audio signal from the receiver/pre-
amp. Signal smoothness through the critical crossover area is maximized since the low and high pass filtering both take place within
the receiver/pre-amp. This filtering more precisely prevents overlapping of the crossover points that may occur if the LPF and HPF
limits are set too close together.
NOTE 2:
The L&R Line Level Input connectors on the back panel accept the signal from your receiver/pre-amp and filter it using the
TIME Mini Amp/Controller’s internal LPF crossover filtering. This method is appropriate if you’re certain the audio signal to the Amp/
Controller is not already crossover-filtered (meaning there is no low-pass filtering).
