File operation restrictions
This section explains which operations are possible on
files stored in each directory.
“Read” and “write” are defined as follows.
Read:
Read data sequentially from the start to the end of
the file.
Write:
Write data sequentially from the start to the end of
the file.
File names are not case-sensitive.
INTERNAL directory (xds style)/root directory (xdcam style)
a) Only files which can be written by XDS devices
• Directories cannot be created in the INTERNAL
directory (xds style)/root directory (xdcam style).
• The directories in the INTERNAL directory (xds style)/
root directory (xdcam style) cannot be deleted or
renamed.
Clip directory
a) The unit can handle files with user-defined names in the “*” part.
b) Only files which can be written by XDS devices
c) Overwriting is not possible.
d) When the “*” part of a *.MXF file name is changed, a *M01.XML file and
a *M02.KLV file with the same name in the “*” part are also changed
automatically.
e) When a *.MXF file is created, a *M01.XML file with the same name in
the “*” part is generated automatically.
f) When a *.MXF file is deleted, a *M01.XML file and a *M02.KLV file
with the same name in the “*” part are also deleted automatically.
Directories cannot be created in the Clip directory.
